A little Dany x Jorah for today’s Hump Day prompt at gameofshipschallenges:
Small Price To Pay
I lived for her smiles, he once said of his lady wife, Lynesse. Bought them, with pretty trinkets paid for with other men’s lives, and if she was pleased enough she might bestow on him a kiss, too. But they were never enough, and his Queen of Love and Beauty left his arms for those of a prince.
Now he holds a princess—a khaleesi, the Queen. Once a bundle of old books brought a small smile to her lips…later a kind word, a tale of home, his mere presence at her side. Always so little to give her, and now even less. A broken heart, a branded cheek…the price of his betrayal.
Her fingers uncurl from around an open palm, an empty hand. He fills it with his, and looks deep into her eyes. When she tilts her face up to his to receive his kiss, Daenerys smiles.
He could die now, and the whole wretched life lived until this moment would be a small price to pay.
